Blastocyst culture refers to growing the embryos in the laboratory for two more days at which point they are referred to as blastocyst (day 5 embryos).Blastocyst transfer simply means that the blastocyst embryos are transferred to the woman's uterus.

Indications:

Multiple times failed in IVF.

Patients in whom multiple pregnancies had to be avoided.

Why do blastocyst culture?

As blastocyst culture can help to determine which embryos have the best chance of being able to implant, we can potentially reduce the number of embryos that we place into the uterus and thereby reduce the risk of a multiple pregnancy.
